Much to our surprise, some of the best shows on Hulu that feature bi-sexual women and lesbians are their original series. Keep reading to find out which Hulu originals made the cut into AfterEllen’s top 5. *screams in lesbian*
WARNING: MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD
The Bisexual
The thing we love about The Bisexual is how it blends old themes of The L Word with new themes of what it truly means to be a bisexual woman. While there are only 7 episodes, this Hulu original is worth binging because of how authentic it feels. It’s got that uncomfy vibe to it that truly questions the humor and experience of bisexual women.
Dollface
Hear us out, we know the first season of Dollface doesn’t scream lesbian. However, in the second season of Kat Denning’s hilarious Hulu original, we do get to see Shay Mitchell portray a gay character again. Oh, how we’ve missed this! Mitchell’s character in the second season dates a woman and you get to see the struggle between them over their relationship growing pains that feels very normal, as it should.
The Girl From Plainville
The Girl From Plainville is the story of Michelle Carter, a bizzare tale of a young girl who assisted in the suicide of her boyfriend via text. If you are into true crime, you will love this one. However, what makes it sapphic? Elle Fanning’s portrayal of Carter is top-notch, and throughout the show they address how Carter is bi-sexual, and her feelings towards women actually shaped why she did what she did as she faced pretty blatant homophobia as a teen.
High Fidelity
You already know we are Zoe Kravitz stans, no question. High Fidelity is a reboot of its predecessor film that only lasted one season as a Hulu original. However, it deserves all the love and honestly, many many more seasons. Kravitz does Rob justice, and even has an entire storyline dedicated to her and her ex-girlfriend. It’s the best, go watch it.
How I Met Your Father
Speaking of reboots, Hilary Duff finally got her rom-com show in this Hulu Original! If you loved How I Met Your Mother, you will adore How I Met Your Father! Plus, as a bonus, Ellen is a lesbian! This modern take on a classic sitcom actually does it justice, and we love seeing how Ellen grows and prospers alongside her friends, and gets into sitcom level hijinks — but gay!
