The Power S1 Episode 8 Recap: Just a Girl

The girls share a joyful meal at the convent. Allie’s sat in the middle (it’s giving The Last Supper). And the video of Allie’s miracles has gone viral. Everyone’s happy except for Allie, worried the law will catch her, and Sister Veronica, who thinks it’s blasphemy. Around the world girls are inspired by Eve. With Sister Maria, Allie confesses that she killed Clyde. Maria comforts Allie, promising people will follow and protect her.

Halle Bush (Allie)

Roxy hooks up with a guy, shocking him to spice things up. She sees right through Allie’s video, kissing the man’s girlfriend and leaving.

Margot and her family get ready for her campaign video. Rob’s still stressed about the kids witnessing Paul Jordan’s suicide, but Margot’s all business. Matty’s still spouting UrbanDox, even though he went after Margot – he wants his mom to lose. And Matty uploads the video of Ryan (Jos’s intersex boyfriend) using EOD.

Tunde meets Declan, sharing his plans to write a book. Declan’s unenthusiastic – but thrilled to learn Tatiana and Zoia are sisters. He takes Tunde to interview Viktor, passing masses of protestors. Declan’s furious Viktor’s team ‘edited’ his questions.

Meanwhile the Monke famile celebrate Roxy’s 18th. Her stunt with the pool impressed Bernie – now a third of his empire will be Roxy’s Barbara’s throwing her a party. But Roxy still misses her mom.

New girls pour into the convent. Gordy confronts Savannah about uploading the video of Allie. She’s no longer welcome to eat with ‘Eve’. And all the girls turn on Savannah.

Pietra Castro (Izzy Clearly-Lopez), Toni Collette (Margot Cleary), John Leguizamo (Rob Lopez), Auli’i Cravalho (Joss Clearly-Lopez)

Margot’s family shoot her promo. Rob’s uncomfortable with all the lies about their life – especially Margot pretending she speaks Spanish. Afterwards Helen reveals that Jos was leaving hate on Margot’s socials. And Margot is stunned.

Viktor’s interview is just as awkward. Declan asks about the Moskalev marriage before going rogue, challenging Viktor’s stance on EOD. Viktor claims the old world, built on female suffering and sacrifice, was better. As Tatiana translates Tunde snaps a photo – and Viktor’s team make him put the camera away. As Tunde reaches down for his bag, he sees Tatiana’s ankle bracelet. Their eyes meet. Tatiana fights back tears as Viktor condemns the rebels.

Soldiers fill the room, ending the interview. In the chaos Tunde tells Tatiana her sister is the leader. He and Declan are locked in an interrogation room. General Miron confronts Tunde about his website. And Declan sells Tunde out, claiming he lied about his identity. The soldiers free Declan, leaving Tunde imprisoned.

Daniel brings the fight to Margot, claiming he represents the ‘victims’ of EOD. His campaign video montage contains Clyde Montgomery. Jos watches, disgusted. And Margot confronts her daughter, asking why Jos sent abusive messages. Jos reveals her frustration over Margot using her family to sell voters an image; posting videos without Jos’s consent. They make up, Jos encouraging her mom to crush Daniel. Rob interrupts – time for a family camping trip.

Allie scrolls through comments on her video, reading a message from Roxy asking how she did it. And Allie checks out Roxy’s tutorials. In awe of her strength, Allie offers Roxy a home.

Ricky tries and fails to force one of Bernie’s clients to pay up. Only when Roxy puts away her phone and shows the sparks does he comply. Ricky’s pride is hurt.

In the woods Rob and Margot reminisce about old times. Jos finds out about Matty’s video and loses her temper – Matty outed Ryan. Jos is terrified he’ll end up being experimented on. Matty taunts her, calling Ryan a freak. Furious, Jos attacks him with her power. But Margot stops it with her own. The family are shocked, Matty disgusted. And Rob feels betrayed.

Mrs Montgomery appears on the news, begging Allie to come forward. The girls and Sister Veronica recognise her from the photo. Sister Veronica runs to call the hotline. And Allie grabs her wrist as she picks up the phone. At the voice’s command Allie uses her power to change Veronica’s mind.

Roxy and Ricky fight because, ordinarily, Bernie sends him to do pick-ups alone. Roxy laughs at him. And when Ricky tries to punch her, she shocks him. They stop in a salon to get his burn patched up and visit Christina’s friends. They give Roxy a birthday cake. And let slip that her mom had a boyfriend: Derek. Roxy’s shaken. Afterwards, in the car, Ricky gives Roxy ten thousand pounds. He admits not wanting her at his wedding. But Bernie insisted, wanting Roxy out of the house that night.

Margot apologises to Rob, claiming she took the power to understand Jos. But Rob sees through the lie. He wants a divorce after the election. Margot cries silently.

Allie’s past catches up with her when Savannah accuses her of killing Clyde. Seeing the girls doubt her, Allie opens up about a childhood defined by abandonment and abuse. She explains that the voice told her to fight back – the voice of a female God. And the girls get behind their new Eve.

Sister Maria finds Veronica outside, babbling about seeing God in Eve. But she’s bleeding from her eyes. The girls arrive, thinking it’s stigmata. Then Veronica falls down dead. Allie is horrified.

Dressed in a negligee, Tatiana cradles her old doll. She hides it when Viktor appears and starts undressing. The dog barks when he grabs Tatiana – and Viktor kicks little Vadim, not stopping when Tatiana begs. He rants about sending an army to end Zoia.

It’s the last straw. Tatiana beats Viktor to death with her trophy. She washes away the blood, calls Solongo, and passes her the trophy. Solongo panics and drops it when she sees the body. Tatiana promises to help her brother – and shocks Solongo to death. Tatiana mover her body and the trophy beside Viktor. Scene set, she calls General Miron in floods of tears.
