Mayor Margot takes in body bags and the smoking ruins of a plane. An electrical malfunction caused the crash. She takes charge until the governor sweeps in – just in time for the cameras. While Daniel deals with the press, Margot visits survivors to find out if teen girls were on the flight.

Allie’s passed out by the road. A nun parks and carries Allie into the car. They arrive at the Sisters of Christ Convent.
Tunde gains millions of subscribers. CNN offers him a job and wants to buy the footage of Ndudi being attacked. Tunde’s dad comes into his office and interrupts the call and rubbishing his work as a journalist. He warns Tunde to leave Ndudi alone.

Jos tries to get the bus to school, but the driver won’t let any girls on. At school she catches up with Cat. Yuki asks her to hang out, but Jos already has plans with Cat, so she says Friday. Until Ryan asks her out. Like Jos’s plans with Yuki, class is cancelled. On the governor’s orders all girls with the power have to come forward. Jos’s class falls silent, hearing another girl’s screams. Kids denounce each other over grudges. Yuki betrays Jos and Cat. Girls are rounded up by security.
At the hospital, the FBI keep parents from their kids. Margot supports a veteran desperate to find his 12 year old, who’s accused of causing the crash. Margot promises to find Mikayla, calling Rob. He has a colleague who can help her bypass the feds.
Allie wakes up, sees a statue of the Virgin Mary. Sister Maria brings breakfast and promises nobody will hurt her. Allie gives a new name: Eve. She learns the convent grows food and sells seaweed soap to pay for the care of stray girls. Finding the Montgomerys’ cross, Sister Marie asks if Allie believes. Allie claims to talk with God every day – and that She answers. Sister Maria is moved, believing their meeting was fate.

Outside Allie passes girls feeding chickens and doing chores. She watches as Luanne has a fit. In the dorm girls watch TV. The news has a reel of girls using the power, including Tunde’s clip. Allie learns all the convent girls have the power. And the voice reassures her that nobody else can do the same as Allie. The nuns call a meeting where Sister Veronica bans use of the power.
At hospital Rob’s ex Natasha fits Margot up with a hazmat suit. She finds Mikayla in a room covered in plastic. The kid’s terrified and wants her dad. As Margot comforts her, Mikayla explains that she got scared when there was turbulence and lost control, starting a fire. Then Margot interviews the flight attendant Mikayla burned. And she shows Margot sparks. Mikayla woke the power in her.
Rob calls Margot – it’s an emergency. She finds Jos at school. All girls with the power have their hands cuffed and wrapped in thick rubber gloves. Margot’s horrified. Rob confronts the headmaster while she demands all girls are freed.

After, Jos explains the power to her parents. She can’t control it as well as other girls, but it’s strong. Jos burns a newspaper to show them. Rob puts the blaze out. Overwhelmed, Jos walks away. Both parents are stunned.
At the convent girls make soap. Sister Veronica gives Allie clothes and instructions to fill out ID forms. The voice warns against a paper trail. And Allie makes a plan to run. Sister Maria finds her hunting for valuables. She teaches Allie about the convent’s past supporting gay and lesbian rights; that the sisters were excommunicated and broke away from the Catholic Church. The voice and Sister Maria convince Allie to stay.
Jos overhears her parents argue about how she got the power, talking about it like a virus. Margot is terrified Jos will be used as a lab rat like Mikayla. She wants to tell Helen so they can control the narrative of Jos’s power. Rob is furious. Matty taunts his sister. And Jos loses control, burning him.

Tunde visits Ndudi at night, sharing his news about CNN. Ndudi is furious – it was her story, and Tunde blew off investigating for a hook up. Worse, he broadcast the attack across the world without her consent. He asks Ndudi for advice and she turns him away. As Tunde leaves, he sees a girl start a generator with her sparks. Tunde goes home and packs, leaving his job and studies to take the CNN job.
At hospital Jos watches her little sister, Izzy. The doctor says Matty’s vision will recover but there’s scarring. Rob comforts Margot until he catches sight of Tash. Margot and Jos clash because this is the most time they’ve spent together in a year, and Margot’s career always comes first.
At Rob’s request Natasha runs tests on Jos. But she’s terrified and fries the machine. Scans show a new organ by her collarbone is the power’s source.
Margot shares her discovery with Daniel. She wants the government funding research and keeping girls safe. But Daniel already knows everything; he’s been keeping it from Margot and the public. Daniel refuses to take action, not wanting to be blamed with the election coming up.

At a press conference Margot overturns the Washington narrative that the power’s a hoax. She gives a heartfelt speech against denying women knowledge of our bodies, sharing everything she knows. Her family are amazed. Daniel is furious.
Margot’s conference puts and end to government denials. Some support girls. Others, like Carpathia, outlaw use of the power. But around the world girls run free.
