Afternoon Delight: Melissa Etheridge’s Uprising of Love

Good afternoon everyone! Sorry for my absence, I’m been busy working on the amazing Queen Latifah Show. On today’s episode I play an elf for our holiday gift guide segment.

Anyway, happy birthday to Paige Bernhardt, Taylor Swift, NeNe Leakes, Wendie Malick and Amy Lee!

Melissa Etheridge is a co-founder of the new social movement Uprising of Love, aiming to help Russia’s LGBT community. In this clip from a CNN interview, she explains why the cause matters:

And earlier this week Etheridge debuted her new song “Uprising Love” during a fundraiser for Russia Freedom Fund.

Grammy-nominated comedian Tig Notaro will be taking the stage at Largo (366 N. La Cienega Blvd.) in Los Angeles. Tickets are now on sale for the Tuesday, December 17 performance of Tig Has Friends. (Aw shucks, that’s what I was going to call my next comedy special.)

Vicci Martinez shared some love on Twitter before she headed off to Sweden. Safe travels, Vicci!

Angelina Jolie might be taking her talents to court. Jolie could take the stand in the News Corp lawsuit brought on by Jolie’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith stunt double Eunice Huthart.

Apparently Orange is the New Black’s Lea DeLaria did not enjoy the film Blue is the Warmest Color.

Speaking of Orange is the New Black, next Wednesday, December 18, Natasha Lyonne will appear on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. Also on Wednesday, Rachel Maddow will stop by The Wendy Williams Show.

Take a gander at this teaser for out Saturday Night Live writer Paula Pell’s new webseries Hudson Valley Ballers, featuring  Kate McKinnon. Have you read our interview with Pell? She’s hilarious!

I’m counting down the days until the return of Orphan Black. #Hurry

Amy Poehler joined this FunnyorDie Christmas carol ambush. How is it possible that so many people in New York City don’t know who Amy Poehler is?!
