“The Vampire Diaries” is getting a lesbian couple

Halleluiah! The CW must have heard my pleas because it was just announced that The Vampire Diaries, is introducing a lesbian couple, Nora and Mary Louise. And yes, they happen to be vampires.

According to TV Line:

The vampires, both turned in their mid-20s, have kept their relationship a secret for more than a century, and although their connection is clear to those able to infiltrate their inner circle, Mary Louise’s constant doting can sometimes feel a bit smothery for fiery Nora’s liking. Still, anyone foolish enough to cross either of them will feel both their wraths.

Talk about your long term relationship! Can you even imagine the depths of that lesbian processing?

There’s not much else know about the roles but we are totally geeked that The Vampire Diaries is finally giving its audience some gay ladies to check out. TVD has yet to have any lesbian characters, though Nina Dobrev once joked she thought Elena might go gay, but since she’s leaving the show, it’s not going to be her. And there was that moment where Rebekah (Claire Holt) was in bed with Nadine….though Matt was there, too.

Season 7 of The Vampire Diaries premieres on October 7th on the CW. Let us know in the comments if you would like AfterEllen to recap the show next season.
