Musgrave will guest star as, Alex, the ex-girlfriend of Gia (played by Rumer Willis) who wants to rekindle their old flame.
There’s no word yet on exactly when Musgrave’s episode will air or if her role might recur (or how Alex and Gia’s names can best be combined ala “Spashley”) but we did check in with the actress to get her thoughts on her new role.
Musgrave told AfterEllen.com:
I am a little nervous, it’s always strange going on another set that isn’t “yours” ― you can feel really out of place. But they have the same hairdresser who worked on South of Nowhere, so I’m happy to work with him again.
And I’m so excited that I can play a lesbian again! I had so much fun on South of Nowhere stepping out of myself for such a role. Whenever you have to do that, it makes work more challenging. And if you don’t have a challenge, then what are you “working” for? Plus, by playing a lesbian once again, I hope I will make the SON fans happy.
The CW series has given us a few queer morsels since its premiere in 2008, including Lauren London‘s bisexual cheerleader Christina:
Rumer Willis as “punky” lesbian Gia:
and lesbian DJ Samantha Ronson guest starring as, well, a DJ on the show:
Ronson’s episode will air on November 3 and also happens to feature an appearance by Sara Foster, who played Amy in everyone’s favorite teen lesbian spy movie, D.E.B.S..
You might also remember that fellow SON alum Maeve Quinlan has had a recurring role on 90210 as former actress and resident hot mess Constance Tate-Duncan.
So now all we need is for Gabrielle Christian (aka Spencer) to enter the mix as Alex’s ex, and the SON circle of life will be complete!

Will you tune into 90210 to see Mandy Musgrave?
