The highly anticipated return of the psychological thriller, Yellowjackets, is a lot closer than you may think. The cast and crew started production in August 2022, and fans could not be more excited. We come for the lesbians, but we stay for the thrill of everything Yellowjackets has to offer.
If you are a fan of the show, you probably know that Yellowjacket’s first season ended in January of 2022. As the finale aired (or if you have been binging it at home) many were left with more questions than answers. That in and of itself is what makes Yellowjackets so captivating to watch. Thus, it should come as no surprised that it was picked up for a second season, and as we speak it is currently in production.
Over the summer, the showrunners for YJ announced that there would be a season two, and started production in August. That said, they also stressed in their interview with Variety, that they would be using “movie magic” to keep that winter atmosphere that we all have become obsessed with that is infamous to the show. So, if you were worried about that – don’t be!
The hope is that, like season one, YJ will return in the winter of 2022 since filming has already been in progress now for two months. Showtime has even confirmed that they are hoping for a winter premiere, which would be perfect for this show’s spooky winter energy. Plus, it would echo its former season coming out around the same time. *crosses fingers for a December 2022 drop*
According to Indiewire, Juliette Lewis and Tawny Cypress are the remaining adult Yellowjackets as of right now. The second season will be an entirely new ball game (excuse the pun) and will start answering all those fan theories and questions we know you have been waiting for.
Speaking of fans of the show, many have taken to Twitter to express their excitement over season two.
While we are hoping for a 2022 premiere, there is some speculation that season two of Yellowjackets won’t drop until the beginning of 2023. Either way, our screens will be blessed once again in the next few months.
