JoJo to Lead Her First Horror Movie “All My Friends Are Dead”

JoJo Siwa is proving she can do more than family-friendly media (Instagram).

JoJo Siwa has been picked to lead the upcoming horror-thriller movie All My Friends Are Dead, directed by Saw 3D writer Marcus Dunstan.

It will be the first time Siwa ventures out of the family-friendly arena, after her involvement in PG projects like Dance Moms, Dancing With the Stars, The Angry Birds Movie 2 and The J Team

Siwa will star opposite Jade Pettyjohn (Little Fires Everywhere) but casting for the whole project is ongoing. It is slated to begin filming in Canada soon.

All My Friends Are Dead follows a group of college pals who find a good deal on an Airbnb for a hyped-up music festival. As they party over the weekend, each of them is murdered one by one with their deaths corresponding to one of the seven deadly sins.

“I’m so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the upcoming movie “All My Friends Are Dead,” Siwa said in a statement. “This is a project that is so different from anything I’ve done previously; however, I absolutely love horror movies and I can’t wait to start production! I’m also excited to work with Jade again. We worked together when we were younger and can’t wait to create this movie together.”

Siwa and Pettyjohn appeared as themselves for a few Nickelodeon holiday specials back in 2017. Siwa also worked on Nickelodeon’s School of Rock, which starred Pettyjohn.

Roundtable Entertainment’s John Baldecchi has high hopes for Siwa’s breakthrough into the horror genre. “We are thrilled JoJo is joining the All My Friends Are Dead cast along with the incredible Jade Pettyjohn. We’re looking forward to JoJo giving us a compelling and dynamic performance that will be surprising for her audience, and everyone involved.”

Baldadecchi promises dark humour. “The script has an entertaining mix of humor and horror that appeals to the die-hard horror fans, comedy lovers, scaredy cats alike,” Baldecchi said in a statement to Deadline. “The film, that is reminiscent of hits like Happy Death Day and is full of fun is also equally scary with clever plot twists that will keep you guessing until the very end.”

John Baldecchi will produce All My Friends Are Dead, with Dominic Ianno, Jason Resnick, Kevin Greutert, Clays Epstein, and Dan Rubin serving as executive producers.
