The L Word: Generation Q Season 3 Episode 2 Recap

It’s time to break down episode two! If you need a refresher on episode one before we get into the good stuff, you can find that here. And there’s a lot of good stuff to get into, so let’s jump in.

Picking up right where we left off: it’s entirely awkward with Angie, Bette and Tina. Angie is very much, “Aww, hell naw,” at the situation and runs out. The Moms decide to give her space to process.

Now that Angie has fled the scene of the kiss, the lovers get right back to business. “It feels so real to me,” Bette says, about their rekindled love. Tina agrees, “Yeah it is real.”

This is not a drill — Bette and Tina are fucking!

How real is it? The Tibette reconciliation love making session that The L Word fandom has been waiting decades for level real! Yeah, that happened.

Morning fights are really the worst, though, aren’t they?

Nat has given Gigi the verdict on whether or not she approves of Gigi and Dani living together. It’s a no unless she gets to know her more. Dani asks Gigi if she’s dating her or her ex wife, and I’m on Dani’s side here. Legit, sis.

Tess is making huge life decisions and barely giving Shane a say. Shane looks over it. Even Alice thinks she’s slipping out of the relationship (Although I disagree with Alice on the reasons why.)

The crew, Alice and Shane, are stoked that Bette and Tina are back together — yes, they’re a couple y’all. The two say they’re “taking it slow” though. LOL, okay. Can anyone really take it slow with that kind of history?

The love/hate friendship of Bette and Dani is one that I love to hate.

Dani takes some advice from Bette to heart, who asks her if she’s truly ready to be a Mom. I thought Dani might pull out of her efforts with Gigi after this, but she concedes to the weird co-parenting blurry boundaries dynamic and decides to go all in. She communicates to Gigi that she wants to show up and do whatever it takes to keep moving their relationship forward. Gigi looks considerably less excited by the devotion and effort than I anticipated.

Sober relationship life is more daunting than either of them had foreseen.

Not a fan of Finley, Mirabel refuses to play nice for her sister Sophie. Finley keeps trying, albeit awkwardly, to kindle a friendship. Mirabel is so committed to her disdain that she purposefully spills the beans, harshly, that Sophie was sleeping with someone while Finley was in rehab. Finley feels hurt and Sophie is pissed that Finley has feelings about it.

Shane tries to convince herself that she’s still into her relationship with Tess by saying yes to opening a second bar. This is despite Shane’s obvious reservations to adding more to life and everything else they already have on their plates.

Gigi no-shows on Dani at Bette’s art showing of Marcus Allenwood’s work (Angie’s donor.) Why can’t I shake the feeling that she’s going back to Nat? I hope I’m wrong.

They’re not giving up yet.

Finley and Sophie reconcile. They might just make it together. Every time I think it’s a bust, they show some maturity and endurance in their new dynamic.

Bette is so enchanted in the haze of her rekindled love with Tina, that she lets her brimming enthusiasm bubble over. She asks Tina to stay with her in LA. Tina is fully and instantly offended, saying she has a career and a whole life in Toronto too. The ghost is all to similar to Tina and she’s not about to relive the same old song and dance with Bette’s life overshadowing her own.

Coming in clutch, Shane asserts, “Bette, we’ve been here before with you and Tina. Why would it be different now?” Bette realizes she’s got to be the one to go this time — the one to submit. That’s what it’s going to take. Bette’s redemption arc continues!

Everyone is driving around in a rush in a very chaotic scene. Tina is being driven to the airport. Angie drives Bette and the crew in an attempt to catch Tina. Gigi is texting Dani that she’s on her way to meet her, finally.

Next thing we know, Gigi is violently t-boned by another vehicle. Right into her side of the car. Reeling from the jarring scene we’ve just witnessed, it’s hard to enjoy the end of the episode.

Tina wants to make sure Bette knows the enormity of sacrifice she’s intending to make.

Traffic is in a gridlock because of the accident Gigi is involved in. The standstill gives Bette the opportunity to run after Tina and catch up with her. Reminiscent of the iconic ending in Imagine Me and You, Bette winds through the stopped cars until she finds Tina’s to declare her intentions. Bette tells Tina that she’s committed to loving Tina better and giving up her life in LA for them.

Nat calls Dani, who’s still waiting outside the gallery, and informs her that Gigi was in an accident. The urgency is clear when Nat emphatically asks, “Can you come? Now?”

Dani gets “the call” from Nat.

Episode three can’t come soon enough sitting on a cliffhanger like that. I’m certainly not prepared to face the real possibility of losing Gigi. There are so many ways this scripting could go. I’ll meet you back here next week to observe everything that comes next, my gal pals.
