The L Word: Generation Q will return with its third season on November 18, 2022!
We already know Margaret Cho and Kehlani will be joining the cast. Also, a cold open between Bette and Tina has been hinted at in a graphic released by the official L Word social media. But there are new developments: including episode synopses and a trailer!
With the title “Last Year,” episode 1 of season 3’s synopsis reads: “Bette and Tina struggle to reconcile their past and future selves as Angie is dealt a shocking blow on her first day of college. Meanwhile, Shane adjusts to domestic life with Tess, and Alice questions what she wants in a partner. At the bungalow, Finley returns from rehab and works to pick up the pieces of the life she left behind with Sophie, while Dani and Micah take big swings with Gigi and Maribel. Season premiere. ”
Will Bette and Tina reunite? Is it inevitable?
Will Shane be able to handle domestic life, being the free spirit she is? I mean, she left Carmen at the altar because her dad persuaded her that their nature was incompatible with domesticity and commitment.
If Alice is questioning what she wants in a partner, does that mean she and Tom are done?
How will Finley adjust to sober life?
Dani and Gigi? Micah and Maribel?!
For the second episode, “Los Angeles Traffic,” the synopsis reads: “Bette and Shane break new ground with Tina and Tess; Sparks fly with Alice’s latest prospect while Angie heals her heartbreak with a new flame; Finley competes for Maribel’s favor and Dani puts hurt feelings aside for Gigi.”
Hang on – so Bette is trying to break ground with Tina? The second episode’s synopsis mentions two lovers alongside each other, like the first episode’s did, so if Tina and Bette don’t end up together then this is the bait of the century!
Then there’s the trailer:
Everyone’s struggling. Tina’s at Bette’s door, asking “are you in love with me?” Sex. Costumes. Angie’s too grown up. Tina walks away from Bette, perhaps angry that Bette is still in love with her because it complicates her engagement. Bette screams like she did after becoming a Buddhist and going on a silent retreat in (coincidentally) season 3 of the OG L Word. Finley has brown hair now. Shane gets a drink to the face (I wonder what she’s done this time?). Bette’s running through traffic, hopefully to get to Tina (the toxic relationship you can’t help but stan). Bette sees Tina at what looks like an art exhibition and they’re looking magnetized, as per usual. Shane and Alice almost kiss? What is going on?
Showtime is focusing so much on Tina asking Bette “The Question” (it even has its own link on the Gen Q menu), including in the overall synopsis for season 3:
“No matter who travels off into the sunset (or ties the knot…) this fierce group of friends and lovers are keeping it all in the family. Maybe this is their time to find ‘the one’ – or just the one right now. Either way they’re living their best life the only way they know how, honestly and confidently – providing time and time again queer life is real life.”
Not quite sure what they mean by “queer life is real life,” but I’m excited to see what our favorite lesbian and bisexual women are up to on November 18!
