New Gay Liberation Front Launches in the US

In the aftermath of the Stonewall rebellion of 1969, the Gay Liberation Front was formed. Now, with newer forms of homophobia masquerading as ‘progressive,’ lesbians and gay men are joining forces once again.

The New Gay Liberation Front (NGLF) has been launched in the US. The organization will be run by and for lesbians and gay men. Their official launch event was on September 19th. Stonewall veteran, Fred Sargeant, was in attendance.

The new front was spearheaded by musician Kurtis Tripp, a desister. He wanted to start up something that specifically advocates for the rights of lesbians and gay men. As a gay youth who didn’t conform, Tripp fell into gender ideology. Now he wants to do something about the pressures gay kids face to identify as straight and trans. The group aims to bring awareness to the homophobia gay people are currently up against. They’re hoping to help tackle issues like gay conversion therapy, in all its various forms, and the increase in hate crimes, here in the USA.

Tripp says, “NGLF maintains that homosexuality is defined as being sexually attracted solely to persons of one’s own sex, and that it isn’t bigotry to maintain exclusive same-sex attraction. It’s okay to be gay. Gay is good!”

“Homosexual people’s dignity and autonomy are under direct attack by gender identity ideology, radical trans activists, and major institutions.”

The new website, which launched on September 13th, is loaded with resources. The front is bringing together activists from all over the United States. Some of the organizers include Belissa Cohen, Donovan Cleckley and John Worth. The group has also partnered up with the founder of the Boxer Ceiling.

“Sexual orientation is rooted in biological sex, not ‘gender identity,’ thus, by attacking the definition of biological sex, gender identity ideology attacks homosexuality. This new branding of homosexuality as ‘bigoted,’ ‘exclusionary,’ ‘fetishistic,’ ‘immoral,’ and ‘transphobic’ represents, in our time, a new brand of homophobia.”

In a press release, NGLF states, “Popular culture, influenced by gender identity ideology, now brands homosexuality as ‘transphobic’ and bigoted in being ‘exclusionary’ of heterosexual people. Therefore, it threatens the autonomy and dignity of lesbians and gay men ― and our rights.” The press release further details these concerns:“Major institutions are working to redefine same-sex attraction as ‘same-gender attraction,’ which posits that sexual orientation is based not on the material reality of biological sex but instead on ‘gender identity.’ Gender-nonconforming children and young people, many of whom would otherwise grow up gay, are being medicalized on a mass scale in various interventions for ‘treating’ feelings of gender dysphoria. Harmful across the board, especially for women and girls, the loss of single-sex services and spaces harms us as homosexual people, because lesbians and gay men depend on these services and spaces for dating and socializing.”

The intentional conflation of ‘sex’ and ‘gender’ have undermined attempts to ban gay conversion therapy, which currently remains legal in 30 states. As far as hate crimes in the USA, gay people are still the most targeted demographic within the ever-expanding LGBTQIA+++ acronym. NGLF joins many new organizations that have been forming within the last couple of years, all with one common goal — to focus on the fight against homophobia.
